Research Diary 1I will start to regularly write up some of my ideas in order to organise my writing easily.
Firstly, I found out that there are certain groups of people in our society influence the most social order or social structure in certain ways. Such goups of people can be presented in voluntary ways, they establish foundations in terms of their strong social revolution motivations. They want to make society better by influencing policy makers ,decision makers or political parties.
The way I thought about above statement is mainly because I try to figure out how voluntary agencies come to shape the way of doing community participation in Taiwan. Where are these agencies coming from? I found out that are coming from active organisations in 1980s. During 1980s there were groups of social actors acted to against the state about its centralisation. It is because that state mainly support certain group of people in terms the benifits within each other. There were many examples about how they helped the disadvantaged people to against uneven economic development and the main targets of them were basedon the notion of environmental protections. In the other words, these actors came to against some governmental or individual decisions which impacted on the most local environments and residents.
After 1990s these organisations were divided into different locality, they thought locality was important in terms to establish their long term influences. That is to say they thought the successful social revolutions should connect to the ethical conscious of locality rather than people’s short term motivations. This mainly because of their collective actions /social movements in 1980s only influence people to believe them and went with them to achieve their short term targets such as against decision making of nuclear energy stations, but after the action finished, the people or organisations were disappeared. In order to continue their influences, they were established within locality and raised training course in terms of stimulate people's mutual consciousness. I found out that community participation is a part of result of such kind of social transition. Such organisations are still existing and shaping the developemnt of community empowerment in Taiwan nowadays.
